Former Wisconsin Governor Martin J. Schreiber, successful campaigner and award-winning author, will share insights about his personal experience with Alzheimer’s disease. He is the special guest speaker at an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the brand-new Tennyson Senior Living Community, 1936 Tennyson Lane.

Schreiber is the caregiver for his wife, Elaine, who lives with Alzheimer’s disease. Schreiber will candidly describe his challenges and missteps and highlight how compassion and humor benefit both the caregiver and the person with dementia. With raw honesty, he has written a book, “My Two Elaines: Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver.”

Free and open to the public, the program with Gov. Schreiber will be presented twice, at 2 pm and 5:30 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 17. His book will be available for purchase, and his presentations will include time to ask questions.

The Oct. 17 open house event celebrates the opening of Tennyson Senior Living Community, developed by Independent Living, Inc. Located at 1936 Tennyson Lane, the property offers 60 apartments, public-access community spaces (such as a bakery/café) and a Health and Wellness Center with a unique warm-water therapy pool.

More details will be available closer to the date of the event. For information, email tennyson@independentlivinginc.org or visit independentlivinginc.org.
