Holiday giving to support older adults
NESCO will be carrying on two holiday events from last year: delivering Thanksgiving meals to homebound older adults and hosting a holiday gift tree for older adults who are alone or cannot afford a gift for themselves. We are looking for your help with each of these events.

For the Thanksgiving meal we are in need of volunteers on either Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2‒9 pm, to help with food preparation; or on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 7 am‒12 pm, to either help package or deliver meals to the homes of older adults on the north and south sides of Madison.

We are also in need of frozen turkeys, pumpkin or pecan pies, boxed stuffing and mashed potatoes and canned veggies. Donated food can be dropped off at the NESCO office. The meals will be prepared and delivered from the FEED Kitchens on North Sherman Avenue.

We are partnering again this year with Door Creek Church and the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly. Our goal this year is to deliver 300 meals on Thanksgiving Day.

The Holiday Tree will be in the lobby of the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Drive, beginning the week of Nov. 19. There will be up to 100 tags on the tree, each identifying a gift needed by one of our older adults. You can simply pick a tag off the tree, go purchase the gift (no used gifts please), and bring the gift unwrapped with the tag attached to the NESCO office. Our office is located inside the Warner Park Community Recreation Center. All gifts must be dropped off at the NESCO office by 4 pm Friday, Dec. 14.
