People power on display at Northside Farmers Market

Congratulations to the Northside News on 20 years of publication. You provide an excellent media source that supports organizations and businesses on the Northside as well as close examination of issues not covered by other media outlets. You offer opportunities for people to volunteer their time to make the Northside a vibrant community. Thank you.

Northside Farmers Market

The Northside Farmers Market happens every Sunday morning from 8:30 am–12:30 pm starting May 3 and ending in October at the Northside TownCenter, 2817 N. Sherman Ave. Our location is easy to get to by walking, bus, bicycle or car, with plenty of free parking available.

Each Sunday a small village appears in the lot at the corner of Sherman Avenue and Northport Drive. It takes many volunteers to make coffee, set up tents, dining tables, signs and cones in order to make this the Sunday morning meeting place we have all come to expect. Once setup is complete, we need people at the information booth to assist as needed, and then a new crew helps with clean up at the end of the market.

If you have time — even once a month — to join one of our crews, you would be a great help. Contact Nahrissa Rush at nahrissarush@gmail.com to join our volunteer team.

We kick off our 11th summer season Sunday, May 3. We will reunite with our friends, neighbors and vendors from last summer’s season, listen to music and buy locally grown and produced food. At 10:30 am, children can take a turn at breaking the piñata we’ll have in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Don’t miss this special treat.

We will continue our popular free flowers on Mother’s Day, May 10. Moms who come to the information booth will receive a small flower that can be planted in your garden to enjoy all summer. And join us May 17 from 9 am‒12 pm for the Annual Dane County Timebank Plant Exchange.
