Volunteer Awareness Month: Do you volunteer?

April is Volunteer Awareness month. If you are not currently volunteering, I encourage you to give it a try. Many volunteers will tell you it is an incredibly rewarding experience.

Don’t have a ton of free time? Don’t feel like you have a special talent or skill that may benefit a nonprofit agency like NewBridge Madison? Not a problem.

There are volunteer opportunities with NewBridge Madison that don’t require much time or special skills but are very helpful to the older adults we serve. In the process of volunteering you can help improve lives and build the capacity of older adults in the community who have not had the same good fortune of opportunity as others.

NewBridge volunteer opportunities include any of the following: help older adults with basic tasks inside and outside their homes, deliver groceries to seniors from the food pantry, help answer our phones, serve meals at our meal sites, serve as a volunteer guardian/representative payee for some of our more vulnerable older adults, or serve on our Friends of NewBridge planning group to increase awareness and support of the critical work we do. In the process of volunteering you will likely make a positive connection with an older adult that will be very rewarding. For more information contact David at davidw@newbridgemadison.org or 608-512-0000, ext. 2006.

Thank you to the many dedicated volunteers on the Northside of Madison and throughout Dane county. Thank you to our NewBridge Madison volunteers for your commitment and dedication to help older adults maintain their health, safety and independence. We could not assist everyone we do without your help.

The NewBridge concert series begins Monday, June 8, 6‒7:30 pm, at the Warner Park Rainbow Shelter. The concerts are free to the public and run until July 20.
