Here to serve

When I’m out in my community, sometimes I’ll get the question, “So what does a state representative do?” My answer is that I serve the people. I am elected to be the voice of the more than 55,000 people whom I represent.

Often this means listening. I have knocked on more than 13,000 doors since January. I do this because I need to hear your thoughts on matters facing our state. When I am on the floor of the State Assembly or in a committee meeting, I carry your words with me. I do my best to reflect your values in the way that I vote.

I also want you to know I am here to help. We’ve all had the maddening experience of calling a government phone number only to be guided through an endless series of automated messages. As an elected official, I can help cut through that red tape and direct you to the right person to help answer your question or solve your problem.

Some of the more common inquiries my office gets are problems with the DMV, questions about unemployment insurance, and inquiries about veterans’ benefits. If you have issues with these, or any other state government-related matter, please let my office know and we will quickly attempt to solve the problem.

Many people have a negative reaction to politics and politicians. Each day I wake up I strive to prove that stereotype wrong. I want you to know that I truly care about my constituents’ well-being. I want you to know that it is my goal to simply make life a little bit better for you and your family. I want to move our state forward. I am here to serve.
