Madison Oriental Market continues to be open to customers during remodeling in August and September. There will be a few days that the store needs to be closed and those will be posted on the door and on Facebook. “To show appreciation for everyone’s patience during construction, we are offering a coupon for $2 off a 50-pound bag of Martin jasmine rice during August and September,” said Cynthia Lee, store manager.

The newly remodeled store will be stocked with specialty groceries and new products so people can cook recipes from Asian, Latino, African and Indian ethnic cuisine. The addition of freezer and cooler space and two fresh meat cases will allow the store to carry more fresh produce, meat, fish and dairy. The deli will offer complete meals that can be purchased to go or to eat at the new seating being added at the front of the store. Visit Facebook to watch the progress.

To help end the Northside’s multicultural food desert, please consider a donation to “GoFundMe.com/MADisonoriental” or stop by the store at 1197 N. Sherman Ave. in the NorthGate Shopping Center. The store is open 9 am‒7 pm, Monday–Saturday, and 10 am–6 pm Sunday. The phone is 608-240-0846.
