Community Mural Project
Thank you to everyone who voted on the three mural design options for Willy North. The winning selection was “Good Things Grow Here,” featuring images of the Northside. We are working with Dane Arts Mural Arts, which has coordinated the production of numerous public murals in Dane County. There will be two public opportunities for you to help paint the mural, if you are interested:

  • Sunday, Aug. 18, 8 am‒1 pm
  • Monday, Aug. 19, 3 pm‒7 pm

Both events will be under the overhang between the Co-op and Lakeview Library. Smocks will be provided to wear over clothing, but painters should wear clothing and footwear suitable for house painting. Children 12 years and younger require adult supervision. Painting times may be limited to ensure everyone has a chance to paint.

The mural will be installed in the first week of October, and there will be a dedication ceremony in mid-October.

Eat Local Month
September is Eat Local Month at the Co-op. It’s our ninth year of using the month to highlight our wide variety of locally grown, locally raised and locally made products. (We define “local” as the area within 150 miles of the state capitol building or anywhere in Wisconsin.) As we did last year, we’ll offer 10% off local products each Friday in September. This includes not only local fruits and vegetables, but also local cheese, meat, bread, granola, beer — anything local. Look for the purple tags in our stores.

Co-op Owners will also be able to save over $50 on all the huge sales we’ll be having in the first two weeks of September. Not a Co-op Owner? Join today for just $10 for your first year (or $4, if you qualify for certain kinds of financial assistance) and start receiving the benefits of ownership right away.
