Letter to the Editor: Homeless population deserves a permanent place to shelter

WPCRC has been providing shelter to the homeless during the COVID outbreak and we as a neighborhood should be proud of this action. However the COVID virus is not abating and the homeless population deserve a permanent place to shelter. I suggest the City of Madison look into purchasing or renting existing structures to provide that shelter. For instance the former Karmenta Nursing home stands vacant. Wouldn’t this be an ideal housing situation? The Northside community needs its center to serve the elderly and young population as well as to provide exercise and services for the general community. And the homeless need a place to call their own.
