Friends of Lakeview Library Book Sale
Friday, March 20, 6‒7:45 pm (members only) and Saturday, March 21, 9 am‒3 pm
This quarterly book sale is sponsored by The Friends of Lakeview Library. Friday is a members-only sale. You can join at the door. Bag sale is Saturday, 1‒3 pm. Proceeds help fund library programs.

Children’s Programs:

Cooking with Chef Lily
(school age) Saturdays, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8, 12‒1 pm
(preschool) Saturdays, March 7 and March 14, 12‒1 pm
Join Kids Chef Lily Kilfoy in this hands-on cooking class for children and families. Participants will whip up some of Lily’s favorite fun recipes. Children will learn about healthy, delicious food, learn cooking skills, and get to try all of the creations. Food is generously provided by Willy St. Co-op North. Call to register two weeks before each class.

Read to a Dog
Mondays, Feb. 10 and March 23, 2:30‒3:30 pm
Bring a favorite book (or find one at the library) and read aloud to a furry friend. Call the week of to register for a 15-minute slot or simply drop in.

Preschool Storytime
Mondays, Feb. 3‒March 23, 10:30‒11:15 am
(preschoolers ages 3‒5) 
A happy blend of stories, fingerplays and songs that help preschool children develop pre-reading, early math and social skills. Daycares, groups and siblings are always welcome.

Maker Monday
Mondays, Feb. 3 and March 2, 3‒4 pm
(children ages 7‒12) 
Dig into Maker Kit activities and explore hands-on artistic and creative tools for building, creating and playing. Flex your tinkering brain muscles with new inventions, problems and puzzles.

Early Readers Book Club
Mondays, Feb. 10 and March 9, 3‒4 pm
Children ages 5‒9 are invited to their very own book club. We will read a book together and then do an activity or art project based on the book. Snacks will be served.

Library LEGO Club
Mondays, Feb. 17 and March 16, 3‒4 pm
Flex your engineering and design muscles and join other LEGO fans and build your own unique creation.

Sewing with Kids
Mondays, Feb. 24 and March 23, 3‒4:30 pm
Learn a new skill, have fun and sew a unique creation with our special guest, Elizabeth White. Participants will hand sew with yarn, yarn needles and old sweaters. All of the materials will be provided.

Toddler Music Time
Wednesdays, March 4‒25, 10:15‒11:00 am
Join Eliza Tyksinski, trained Music Together teacher, for this interactive music experience for children ages 16 months‒5 years and their caregivers.

Baby Music Time
Wednesdays, March 4‒25, 11‒11:45 am
Join Eliza Tyksinski, trained Music Together teacher, for this interactive music experience for babies ages 0‒15 months and their caregivers. Stay for play and conversation at the end of the music class.

Cooking & Creating@Lakeview

School age children will enjoy creative projects, arts and crafts, cooking, games and more.

Bilingual Storytime

Grab your friends for multiplayer Minecraft fun at the library and connect to the library’s private servers for a customized gameplay experience using MinecraftEDU. No account is necessary. Sign up for 30-minute turns based on attendance. Minecraft programming is funded by a gift from the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation.

Nuts and Bolts of Returning to School

Thinking about returning to school for a first, second or advanced degree? This free session provides information and options at UW-Madison as you plan to continue your education. After attending this workshop you will have a better understanding of how to get started on the process of selecting and applying to schools and how to research financial assistance. This program is facilitated by an experienced education advisor from Adult Career and Special Student Services within the Division of Continuing Studies at UW-Madison. 

10 Mistakes I Made in My Garden So You Don’t Have To

Although trial and error is often a part of the gardening experience, you can skip over some of the beginner mistakes and move straight to the more advanced ones. Megan Cain will share the top 10 mistakes she’s made in her (and others’) gardens so you can avoid them in your own and have lots more fun and success each season. Coping with Stress through Journaling
Monday, March 16, 6‒7 pm
Stress can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings and your behavior. Stress that’s left unchecked can contribute to many health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. We can’t always control the stress in our lives, but we can control how we react to it. In this one-hour educational session, learn how you react to stress, how it’s affecting your health, and how to use journaling as a healthy coping tool. Home Creamery: Cultured Milk, Kefir, Yogurt and More

Join veteran home cheesemaker Linda Conroy to make and sample yogurt,
kefir, cultured cream and cultured butter, and how to turn them into soft, spreadable cheese. Participants will leave with recipes and a culture to get them started at home. Vegetarian. A Gentle Talk on Alzheimer’s

Join Michael Hecht, of Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as he discusses easily implemented, workable and successful ideas for adults with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Topics include implementing dining assistance, community trips, leisure activities and more.
