Cub Scout Pack 127

If you are a child who will be starting kindergarten through fifth grade this fall, you have a chance to be a part of scouting history. The Northside’s Cub Scout Pack 127 is excited that we’ll be opening our doors to both girls and boys this coming school year, so all children will have the chance to participate in a full-family scouting program. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that scouting promises.

Our inclusive Cub Scout pack has been busy this year with all kinds of adventures. We’ve taken field trips to a local well, hiked in Cherokee Marsh and Lakeview Hill Park and visited the UW Geology Museum. We also collected more than 550 items of food for The River Food Pantry and Mendota School Food Pantry. We held our annual pinewood derby races in January, spent the night underground at Eagle Cave in March and took part in an Earth Day cleanup at Warner Park in April.

Our scouts are now working on creating their own boats to sail down Yahara River at our annual River Regatta, culminating with a family camp-out. Looking ahead to the summer, our pack will be hosting a zoo adventure, pontoon boat rides on Lake Monona, an ice cream social at the local splash pad and we’ll even go to a Mallard’s game together.

We invite you to an open house to learn more about the full-family scouting program for your girls and boys. Join us Wednesday, May 30, between 6 pm and 7 pm, at the Lakeview Library to learn more about the exciting changes to come. If you have any questions, contact Lynnea Nielsen at Lynnea_ruth@yahoo.com. We look forward to welcoming your family along on our adventures to come.
