Northside News

Jack Hall, owner of Cherry Creations, has had a life-long love and passion for wood. As a young man, he cut down and milled cherry trees into logs. Honing his skill, he became a renowned wood specialist and furniture maker.

Known as the Northside lumberjack, Jack captures the beauty and character of the cherry, black walnut, flat-sawn and quarter-sawn oak, and character wood that is sold as hardwood or handcrafted into furniture. The character wood grade means the wood will feature some knots as well as some color variation and sap, all of which add to its natural charm.

As a furniture maker, Jack takes the beauty of the wood he has milled and creates hardwood items for the home. His furniture can be found in his roadside showroom at 5865 County Hwy. CV near the VFW and Ideal Crane. Jack restored an old grain bin on the property to display the furniture. His specialties are bookmatch tabletops and legs, quilt racks, small kitchen islands, live edge wood art, and rolling coffee tables with antique cast iron factory wheels. He also custom makes special order coffee tables.

Cherry Creations is off the beaten path; however, it is a business that you should check out in person. Jack is old school without a website, so it’s best to call and leave a voicemail at 608-206-6934 and he’ll call you right back so you can schedule a visit to the furniture showroom.
