We welcomed several officers to the North District at the shift change in February. Each year officers are able to select their shift and district assignment based on their department seniority. The vast majority of officers remain in their current assignments, but there are always some changes due to retirements, promotions or specialty unit assignments.

Officer Charles Warren comes to the North District in the assignment of East High School Resource Officer. He was selected for the position through a competitive process that included a panel interview with East High administrators and Madison Police administrators. The interview and selection process included input from East High students and parent representatives.

Officer Warren is a graduate of UW-Whitewater and has over 19 years of police experience. He has received training and certification from the National Association of School Resource Officers. Officer Warren previously filled in as the School Resource Officer at West High School for a semester and has experience as a youth counselor and adult disability caretaker.

Officer Rueben Garcia comes to the North District in the assignment of Neighborhood Resource Officer. He will be working with tenants, landlords, businesses and neighborhood associations to improve the safety and quality of life in North District neighborhoods. Officer Garcia is a graduate of UW-Madison and began his career with the Madison Police Department in 2017.

We are pleased to welcome Officers Charles Warren and Ruben Garcia to the North District.
