Amazing trucks, fun crafts, children’s entertainment, door prizes and delicious food will all be featured at Countryside Montessori Preschool’s (CMP) second annual Touch-a-Truck fundraiser to be held rain or shine Saturday, May 16, 10 am‒2 pm, in the parking lot of the Northside TownCenter at the intersection of Northport Drive and North Sherman Avenue. For those sensitive to noise, 10‒11 am is designated a quiet hour with no horns or sirens.

What is Touch-a-Truck? “Kids love the Touch-a-Truck event because they are allowed to actually get in the big trucks they see in the community, ask the driver questions and even sit in the driver’s seat,” said CMP Parent Board President Amy Holste. “It is truly a unique opportunity.”

Last year’s event, popular despite the rain, featured the Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile, a Wingra Redi-Mix cement mixer, a National Guard Humvee, an ambulance and more. Those who braved the weather were treated to construction hats to decorate, a bounce house, children’s entertainment, face painting and a whole lot of family fun.

“We hope the success of last year’s Touch-a-Truck will help spread the word about what a great event it is for Northside families,” said Patty Castillo, directress of CMP. “The smiles on the faces of the children make this a perfect fundraiser for our school.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the preschool to support staff development, purchase classroom materials, and contribute to the scholarship fund for families in need. The cost is $5 per person with a maximum of $15 per family. Bounce house tickets and food options are available for an additional cost.

A mainstay of Madison’s Northside located on Northport Drive, CMP has provided quality care and education to preschool-age children for more than 27 years. It is a multi-cultural, city-, state- and nationally-accredited school with teaching faculty abundant in training, experience and education. Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year has begun.
