A new year means a fresh start to achieving those ambitious New Year’s resolutions. I hope you have not given up on your resolutions yet. If you are like me, you committed to living a more active and healthier lifestyle. Now is a great time to put that New Year’s resolution into action and renew your passion for getting fit by hitting the gym and becoming a fitness center member. We have state-of-the-art equipment and affordable membership plans to get you moving.

As we ring in the New Year, I want to share some highlights from 2019 and some upcoming activities for 2020.

I want to thank everyone who supported Holiday Fest in December. We had another successful event with 1,526 attendees.

The WPCRC had an incredible 2019. Through policy revisions, we have been able to make the WPCRC more accessible than ever and have become a popular destination for Northside youth. WPCRC historically averaged 4,000 youth ID card scans per year, but in 2019 we had 7,100 scans.

A big thanks to the WPCRC staff and our tenant partners, MSCR and NewBridge, who have been on the front lines of this effort, ensuring the space is welcoming and inclusive for all. We look forward to continuing the momentum in 2020.

We have begun the recruitment process for the new Teen Specialist position introduced in Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway’s 2020 Operating Budget. The Teen Specialist will focus on teen engagement and programming at the WPCRC. If you know of individuals who may be interested in this opportunity, please encourage them to apply at cityofmadison.com/jobs.

Don’t forget to stop by the recreation center and say hello. Check out our programs and stay connected by liking our Facebook page @WarnerParkCRC.
