We are going through a challenging time. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things, and we are going through an unprecedented time in our nation’s history. I am committed to sharing the latest updates and resources available from the city and state via my District 12 blog.

I appreciate all the health care workers, community leaders and other stakeholders who are working hard to make sure Madison remains operational and people who need help get available resources, including food and medical attention.

Some city meetings are moving to an online platform and others are in the process of moving online.

We are in this together, and by implementing the recommended precautions, we can overcome it. Precautions we need to take to beat COVID-19 in our community include:

  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water. When water is not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze,
  • Avoid close contact (2 meter/6 feet) with people who are unwell.
  • Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell.
  • Practice social distancing by staying home whenever possible, even if you are not feeling unwell.

It is my priority to make sure the city does what it can to take care of our most vulnerable residents by providing reliable access to food and other resources. The Madison Community Development team is working hard to create strategies and provide help to our homeless and vulnerable communities.

The city is also working with the state to find relief for small businesses as they are the backbone of our economy and our culture. This crisis affects everyone, particularly small businesses, and we need to do our best to help them during this time.

Stay safe and healthy. I am accessible and here to help. Please contact me at district12@cityofmadison.com or 608-572-6984.
