I would like to start by saying I am thankful to you, our residents, for electing me and giving me the opportunity to represent you. My campaign slogan was “Always Advocating For You” because my top priority as an alder is listening to your voices, serving our district well in an equitable way, and advocating for you.

Over the past eight months, I’ve seen our district face challenges and opportunities. I’ve worked hard to keep you informed and engaged by writing blog posts, attending neighborhood meetings, serving on city committees, and organizing 12 public meetings on topics ranging from affordable housing to F-35s. I couldn’t do it without you showing up at these meetings, or sharing your thoughts via email and phone calls. I hope you can see from my actions and my involvement that my focus is to serve equally all the neighborhoods that make up our district.

I am committed to bringing your voices to the common council. We continue to face environmental, public health and safety-related challenges. Together, we can work to solve them and make our district safer and better for all of us.

I will also be focusing on connectivity of our district to the rest of the city (including bike paths and public transit) and economic development of the Oscar Mayer site. I am working with businesses and the community to bring equitable jobs and increased economic development in our district.

We have two proposed senior housing projects and one mixed-use senior/multifamily project. There are two market-rate apartment buildings under construction at Northside TownCenter and Tennyson Lane. There are two proposed market-rate building projects along East Washington in the Eken Park neighborhood. More people and businesses want to move into our district because good things are happening here. Thank you for being part of it.

I look forward to working with you in 2020.
