On Feb. 5 Lindbergh students, staff, families and community members participated in Read Your Heart Out, a celebration that honors African American Parent Involvement Day. It celebrates African American history and literature.

At Lindbergh, the entire day was spent as a read-in dedicated to the enjoyment of reading. Staff and students were encouraged to wear their pajamas or other comfortable clothing.

Readers visited classrooms to read books that celebrate and highlight African American history and literature. Guest readers included families and community members, such as Madison firefighters, Madison Capitol Hockey players, and government officials, including Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Sen. Mark Miller, Rep. Melissa Sargent and members of the Madison School Board.

The day ended with an assembly to celebrate our African American students and families.
