Position Details
- Part-time, temporary
- 14 hours/week, 0.35 FTE
- Employment term —08/10/2020 – 10/15/2020
- Flexible schedule for most of the employment term. Must be available full time during newspaper production week with evening and weekend hours required: Thursday, Sept. 17-Thursday, Sept. 24.
- $17.50/hour
- Location — remote work
General Responsibilities
The Northside Planning Council (NPC) is hiring a graphic designer for a temporary position, with the primary responsibility of supporting publication of the Northside News newspaper in late August and September, as well as creating graphics and flyers on an as-needed basis for NPC and its programs.
Design work for The Northside News entails formatting advertisements and creating the content layout of the bimonthly print edition.
Design work for NPC may involve creating promotional materials including but not limited to, flyers, brochures, advertisements, social media graphics, business cards and posters.
Required Qualifications
- Strong graphic design skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable
- Willing and able to work evenings and weekends from Thursday, Sept. 17 to Thursday, Sept. 24.
- Willing and able to work collaboratively with tight deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 6 and Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Illustrator
- Experience with newspaper and/or magazine layout
- Must have hardware needed to run InDesign while working on large files. Access to software (Adobe Creative Cloud) can be provided by NPC as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with Google Suite, particularly Google Drive, Docs and Sheets
Wages & Benefits:
Wages for this employment term will be $17.50/hr, paid bi-weekly.
