The grand opening of the Door Creek Northside campus held Sunday, Sept. 9, had a double cause for celebration. The event marked the official launch of services at the new church campus as well as the 10th anniversary of Boomerangs Resale Store.

Hundreds of people attended the two worship services, activities at Boomerangs, and a community celebration held in the NorthGate Shopping Center parking lot. Community nonprofit leaders and Northsiders came out to welcome everyone. The event included free Chick-fil-A food, music, bouncy houses, face painting, games and door prizes.

Boomerangs, 1133 N. Sherman Ave., is owned and operated as a ministry of Door Creek Church to provide quality clothing and household items at affordable prices. Door Creek Church is just a few doors away at 1181 N. Sherman Ave., in the NorthGate Shopping Center. You’ll find the location in the corner of the “L” near V-Nails and Community Support Network. The church continues their four-year partnership with Mendota Elementary School to assist in planning the annual community block party, help in the classrooms and other projects. Small groups from the church adopt a teacher and the classroom to read to the students or help with activities.

“We are so happy to be here, and we are ready to contribute to the historical, vibrant and richly diverse Northside community,” said Pastor David Smith. “Everyone is invited to check out our weekly 10:30 am worship service. Stay tuned for more information on the launch of afterschool children’s, adult and family programs.”
