Mayor’s Neighborhood Roundtable, an avenue to build community

By Angela Puerta
City of Madison

Madison is experiencing many physical and social changes that have impacted the way we perceive our city and the way we interact in it. To make a positive influence in our community, we can participate in activities and projects occurring within our neighborhoods, or simply develop an understanding of how city processes work and how decisions are made.

Since 1997, the City of Madison has been hosting a community event that strengthens relationships among residents, community organizations, business owners, city staff and just about anyone who wants to make Madison a more livable, inclusive and healthy community.

The 2017 Mayor’s Neighborhood Roundtable will offer a space for all to continue meaningful dialogues about transformative neighborhood issues, build organizational skills, learn about neighborhood best practices and meet and build relationships with other neighborhood leaders, city staff, elected officials and representatives of community-based organizations.

This free, half-day event will take place at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center Saturday, Oct. 7. Doors will open at 8 am. The event will start with a Q&A with Mayor Soglin at 9 am. There will be several workshops from 10 am‒12 pm.

Registration is required by Friday, Sept. 29. For more information, visit our website cityofmadison.com/neighborhoods or call 267-8727. Child care and language assistance is available upon request.
