Lola’s Hi/Lo Lounge, a new and exciting addition to Madison’s Northside, opened its doors to the public Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 617 N. Sherman Ave. in the Lakewood Plaza. The lounge has been developed by Matt Gerding and Evan Dannells, the owner of Cadre.

With a cozy and inviting atmosphere, this lounge promises an enjoyable experience for patrons. Lola’s Hi/Lo Lounge offers a comprehensive menu featuring an array of elevated tavern food. Diners can savor cracker crust pizza, a variety of noodle and dumpling dishes, and classic tavern baskets that include mouthwatering options like burgers with curly fries and chili dogs. On the beverage front, the lounge serves up classic cocktails and boasts an impressive selection of both classic and craft beers.

What sets Lola’s apart is its unique twist on the HiFi bar concept, a trend gaining popularity across the country. The Hi/Lo Lounge experience revolves around excellent music and sound played on high-fidelity speakers, primarily featuring vinyl records. However, the volume is set at just the right level to ensure that you can enjoy great tunes and have a comfortable conversation, thanks to the acoustic treatment of the space.

The lounge’s name pays homage to the original Lola’s Tomcat Lounge, located in Tori’s hometown of St. Nazianz, Wis. Lola Otto, the 86-year-old owner of the original establishment, still bartends there nightly. This 60s era cocktail lounge has left a lasting impression on Lola’s Hi/Lo Lounge, which strives to capture the nostalgic touch with the essence and vibe of the original Lola’s.

Lola’s Hi/Lo Lounge is all about creating a welcoming space where you can indulge in delectable food, refreshing drinks and the best of music in Madison’s Northside. So whether you’re in the mood for a unique dining experience, a relaxing night out with friends, or simply want to immerse yourself in a fantastic music scene, Lola’s Hi/Lo Lounge is a must-visit destination.
