READ to a Dog
Saturdays, Oct. 10 and Nov. 14, 2 pm
Bring a favorite book and read aloud to a furry friend. Time slots are available on a first come, first served basis.

Library Laboratory
Fridays, Oct. 16, 5:30–7:30 pm, and Nov. 13, 2‒4 pm
Children in grades 3‒12 are invited to stop by this drop-in session to play all sorts of games, experiment with cooking, get creative with art, and more. Supervised younger siblings are welcome.

Family Forts Storytime
Thursdays, Oct. 8 and Nov. 12, 6 pm
Bring blankets and pillows for a cozy and creative evening at the library. Enjoy a snack and a story and then get busy building your fort and reading as a family.

Constructed Imagery with James Belucci, a Bubbler Junior program
Tuesday, Oct. 13, 4 pm
Using paper, cardboard and other materials, learn how to construct and then photograph a diorama-like scene. Participants will learn about scale, lighting and storytelling in this energizing hands-on class for children school-aged through teens. Register by phone at 246-4547 or online. The Bubbler program is funded by a grant from the Institute for Museums and Libraries.

One of Lakeview’s favorites is back. Experience the excitement of a live magic show with Morris the Magic Man.

Madison Area Ukelele Initiative, a LakeviewPalooza program

Join MAUI members in a fun, free-wheeling concert for the whole family.

Library LEGO Club 
Tuesdays, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17, 4 pm
We provide a theme each month, with stories and pictures to inspire the imagination. Join other LEGO fans and build your own unique creation. 

Pokemon Club
Thursdays, Oct. 22–Nov. 19, 4–5:30 pm
Do you love Pokemon? Learn how to play during the first half-hour, and then compete against other kids. The library provides the cards. It’s the best.

Monster Mash
Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 pm
Hear spooky stories and create creepy crafts. It’s fun for the whole family.

Magnets with Karen Corbeill, a Bubbler Junior program
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 4 pm
Learn all about magnets with Karen Corbeill as she conducts a variety of hands-on experiments with magnets. Defy gravity, maneuver objects through a maze, and investigate magnetic mysteries. Register by phone at 246-4547 or online beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Taiko Drummers
Saturday, Nov. 14, 10:30 am
Taiko drumming fuses elements of martial arts, dance and traditional and contemporary music. Feel the beat and join the fun.

Preschool Storytime 
Tuesdays, 10:30 am
Stories, finger plays and songs help preschool children ages 3‒5 develop early literacy skills. Younger siblings and groups are welcome. No registration is required.

Book Baby 
Tuesdays, 11:30 am 
Babies 0‒15 months enjoy stories, songs and activities. One adult per baby is required. Class length is 15 minutes, with time for play and conversation.

Toddler Time 
Wednesdays, 10:15 and 11 am
Children ages 16‒35 months will enjoy stories, songs and rhymes. One adult per child is recommended. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Pick up a nametag before storytime.

Lakeview Chess Club
Second and fourth Mondays at 6 pm. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Adult Programs

Adult Yoga with Kristin Sage
Thursdays, Oct. 1‒Nov. 19, 10:30‒11:30 am
This eight-week yoga series will focus on building a strong foundation to gain confidence and comfort with the practices of yoga. Postures are done safely to give access to core strength and increasing mobility. You must be able to move from the floor to standing independently. Individual needs will be addressed. Please bring a mat or towel. Kristin has been teaching yoga for more than 10 years and provides sensitive and attentive guidance. Call 246-4547 to register. 

Baking Techniques with Punky Eagan
Monday, Oct. 19, 6–7:45 pm
Certified master baker and Northsider Punky Eagan will share her baking know-how during this lively demonstration. 

One-On-One Writing Assistance
(Note change to Wednesdays)
Wednesdays, 4–7 pm
Free one-hour sessions for writing help, including resumes, cover letters, online job searches, applications and any creative writing. This program is funded through a grant and staffed by UW Writing Assistance staff. Call 246-4547 to sign up. 

Computer and eBook Assistance
Mondays, 10 am‒12 pm, and Thursdays 1–3 pm, by appointment
We offer free one-on-one sessions for help with basic computer and Internet literacy, including online job searching and applications, using email, opening and using Facebook, and e-reader setup and assistance.

Adult Book Group
Discuss books and eat treats. It’s a really good group. Oct. 8, 12 pm: “The Goon Squad” by Jennifer Egan; Nov. 8, 6:30 pm and Nov. 12, 12 pm: “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson, which is the 2015-16 selection of the UW’s Go Big Read program. Copies are available at the library.

Scrabble for Adults
Every Wednesday, 10 am
Sharpen your mind with a group that makes it fun. 

Knitting at the Library 
Every Wednesday, 6 pm
Drop-in knitting: Learn a new craft or work on that unfinished project with other neighborhood knitters.
