The Friends of Lakeview Branch Library hold their next Quarterly Book Sale Saturday, June 16, 9 am‒4 pm, with a members-only sale on Friday, June 15, 6‒7:45 pm, and a Saturday bag sale 2‒4 pm. There are always great bargains and all proceeds fund library programs.

Read Like a Badger
The Summer Reading Clubs, for children ages birth to grade 8, launch June 1 with a theme of “Libraries Rock!” Get ready for a summer of reading and learning. Sign up at your favorite library or at madisonpubliclibrary.org/kids. Read Like a Badger is funded in part by the Topitzes Family Foundation, Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation and Madison Public Library Foundation.

Enjoy rhymes, books and songs while learning new tips and techniques to help your toddler (ages 16‒35 months) develop early literacy and math skills and naturally grow social skills in a group setting. Preschool Storytime

Community Drum Circle with Elmore Lawson

Minecraft Club

Grab your friends for multiplayer Minecraft fun hosted on the library’s private server. No account is needed; we’ll use library laptops running MinecraftEDU. Minecrafters ages 17 and under sign up for 30-minute turns based on attendance. Minecraft programming is funded by a gift from the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation.

USS Bubbler Regatta

Ahoy shipbuilders. Anchors away for the first annual USS Bubbler Regatta. Create your own mini vessels from recycled materials, test their seaworthiness and race against your friends down our rain gutter course (you may have to supply your own wind). Children under age 7 should be accompanied by an adult.

Stop Motion Animation Workshops

Drop in to play with Madison Public Library’s stop-motion and hand-drawn animation stations. Using markers, whiteboards and props, each participant will create their own short stop-motion film during these hands-on workshops. All supplies and equipment will be provided. Come with an idea for a story you’d like to tell or make one up on the spot.

Getting to know your Digital Camera
Tuesday, June 12, 5:30‒7:30 pm
Are you ready to get the most of your digital SLR camera? In this two-hour seminar, Keith will show you how to take your photos to the next level. This session is designed to teach skills to get those amazing landscape, sports, portrait and kid photos you want. You will learn about ISO, how to control motion, when to use different autofocus modes, how to capture images the way you want and much more. This seminar is designed for users of a digital SLR camera. These are the cameras that allow you to change lenses. It is recommended that you have a fully charged battery in the camera. Registration begins May 29.

Drop-in Screen Printing with Lesley Numbers

MGE’s Electric Vehicles 101

Do you have questions about electric vehicles? MGE can help. Learn about electric vehicles (EV) basics. Hear about resources to make buying, owning and charging EVs easier. EVs will be on display and you can talk to EV owners about their experiences. Come with questions and leave with an understanding about what it means to own an EV.
