An update on the COVID-19 pandemic

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve known that this virus was going to be with us for a long time. That knowledge, however, has not made dealing with it any less painful.

We’re all understandably tired of this virus and the impact it’s had on our lives — physically, emotionally and economically. Unfortunately, however, COVID-19 is still with us, and it’s no less dangerous or contagious today than it was back in March.

Recently, we’ve seen a surge in cases. This surge reminds us we need to remain vigilant and continue to focus on preventing the spread of the virus.

In order to get and keep COVID-19 back under control, we all need to continue practicing strict adherence to public health guidelines. Wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart, washing our hands, and avoiding large gatherings all help keep us and our community healthy.

We need to remember and reinvigorate the spirit and approach that brought us success at the beginning of this outbreak. By working together as a community, we were able to rally together and flatten the curve. We took care of our neighbors, and we got a handle on the spread.

We must all continue to do our part to protect each other and ourselves. We can keep the virus under control, but it will require everyone in our community doing their part and paying attention to public health guidelines.

Getting a handle on the virus will take all of us working together for the greater good. We’ve done it before, we can do it again.
