Help protect older adults (and yourself), get vaccinated.

Many people are feeling a sense of relief now that COVID-19 vaccines have been developed. We are ready to get back together with groups of friends, to frequent restaurants and stores, and enjoy events in person. First, we need to come together as a community to get vaccinated.

Some people are concerned or resistant about getting vaccinated. They don’t trust the vaccine, or they had COVID-19 and believe they are immune. The COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S. have been shown to be highly effective. The vaccine may help keep you from getting seriously ill and protect the people you care about. You can also protect people at increased risk for severe illness and the older adult community.

If you had COVID-19, you still should get vaccinated. Experts do not know how long the immunity lasts, and you run the risk of getting sick again or passing it on to others. Vaccines will work with your immune system so it will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed.

Until a large portion of the community is vaccinated, the best way to protect yourself and others is to keep wearing masks and practice social distancing.

Please encourage older adults and others around you to get vaccinated. Once the COVID-19 vaccine is made available for all older adults, anyone needing information or assistance can call the NewBridge office 608-512-0000.

NewBridge office at Warner Park reopening Monday, Feb. 15.

Please call ahead if you plan to come to our office. NewBridge will enforce current local public health guidelines. NewBridge is offering limited programming for older adults. You must be pre-registered to participate. In February we will offer footcare clinics and computer support for older adults wanting to connect virtually with NewBridge.
