Food, plants and seeds for the neighborhood

Gompers Grows
Food has always been an essential part of community. The Gompers Grows program is engaging students in the art of growing, knowing our environment and teaching them they, too, can put food on the table.
Join us Thursday, May 23, from 5:30‒7:30 pm for Family Gardening Night at Gompers Elementary School, 1502 Wyoming Way. The Gompers community welcomes our Northside neighbors to the school for an evening of fresh food featuring a free salad bar serving student-grown lettuce and greens. The night will continue with an open house showcase of student projects involving topics such as soil creation, vermicomposting, food systems, seed planting, transplant production and knowing the seasons.
Visitors are welcome to pick up free vegetable seeds. In addition, transplants of tomato, pepper, basil, kale and more will be available for a cash donation. All donations support the Gompers Grows program and continued community food gatherings.
Let’s come together to support our youth as they learn vital skills and discover community through food.
