On March 1, members of the East High School Latino Student Union, guided by Silvia Gomez, read to Lindbergh Elementary students in order to share the importance of bilingual, diverse and multicultural literature. They read to students in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade and fifth grade.

The high school students made reading fun using stuffed animals and flashlights, and even under tables. They shared literature in both English and Spanish in order to complete the “hockey reading board” where students are reading and working to earn free hockey tickets, thanks to the Madison Reading Project and the Madison Capitols Hockey team. The high school students also answered questions from the elementary students about classes, interests and high school.
