Arree Macon

Nominated by Jenna Edwards (Lake View Community Elementary School) and Chase West (MSCR at Lake View)

Mr. Arree, as he is known by students and families all over the Northside, holds many titles. He’s a Madison Metropolitan School District employee at Capital High. He works for the Madison School and Community Recreation afterschool program at Lake View Elementary and is involved with the Lake View Community School. He is a former Youth Navigator with the Northside Planning Council, and he mentors middle school students through the Northside Youth Leadership Advisory, a group he organized, out of Lakeview Branch Library.

Arree goes above and beyond for all Northside students, past and present, inside and outside of the classroom. On the weekends, you can find him tutoring students, mentoring students who need an adult in their lives, taking care of students who don’t have an adult around, and most importantly, always showing students what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like to be a leader. Arree has made connections with students that will last a lifetime, connections that all students will hold true to their hearts throughout their entire lives. When they are around him, students become confident, hilarious, poised, and determined — all while working to their highest potential. Arree truly takes each student into account by gaining as much information about them as possible. He will ask questions and provide ample opportunities to bring in their culture, ideas, and interests into all assignments. Arree Macon is the definition of a difference maker.
