Scouts BSA Troup 127

There are exciting new developments on the Northside for young people as Scouts BSA has two growing troops. Troop 127 is the scout troop dedicated to boys around 11 years of age and older.

Outdoor recreation through scouting is one of the healthiest activities your child or grandchild can participate in. Our wide range of adventures and activities offers incredible experiences that build character, confidence and compassion.

This summer our scouts have been building their endurance in cycling, with a 50-mile bike trip as our end goal. It is amazing how much fun they have taking a break from digital devices and video games. Fifty miles is a significant accomplishment for our youth and one that will show them that practice and preparation pay off. We have also started hiking to prepare for a weeklong adventure next year.

Our scouts enjoy a weeklong overnight summer camp, playing outdoor games and learning skills like rocketry, metal forging, motor boating, archery and climbing. It is one of those events that becomes a cherished memory.

Looking to give back, our scouts also invest in our community by doing a variety of service projects, such as pulling garlic mustard at Warner Park so our native plants have a chance to thrive.

This fall our scouts are excited to explore the field of aviation and learn about flying aircraft.

If these adventures are something that would benefit your child or grandchild, get them signed up for scouts today. For more information, contact Scoutmaster Justin Sargent, iscuba@sbcglobal.net or via phone/text at 608-220-2342.
