Happy New Year! A new year means a fresh start to achieving those ambitious New Year’s resolutions. By the time this column is published, I hope you have not given up on your resolutions. If you are like me, you made a commitment to living a more active and healthier lifestyle. Now is a great time to put that New Year’s resolution into action and renew your passion for getting fit by hitting the gym and becoming a fitness center member. We have state-of-the-art equipment and affordable membership plans.

As we ring in the New Year, I want to share some highlights from 2018 and some upcoming activities for 2019.

WPCRC had over 226,000 visitors in 2018. Through policy revisions, we have been able to make the WPCRC more accessible than ever and have become a popular destination for Northside youth.

I want to thank all the families that have been attending Warner Park Family Fun Nights. These family focused events are in their fifth year and serve over 200 Northsiders each month. I also want to thank everyone that supported the Holiday Fest Arts and Crafts Show in December. We had a record year with 1,693 attendees.

On the first Friday of each month, WPCRC transforms into a safe space for over 60 Northside teens to participate in a variety of sports, creative arts, workshops, live music and performances while hanging out with friends for Teen Night.

We will be partnering with the Center for Community Stewardship and Zeidler Center of Milwaukee to host the Youth and Police Initiative Feb. 18‒23. The goal of this program is to strengthen relationships and trust between Northside youth and police.

Don’t forget to stop by the WPCRC and say hello. Check out our programs and stay connected by liking our Facebook page at WarnerParkCRC.
