After a pandemic pause and a trial run last November to get the event jump started, Taste the Future is returning in 2024 to its intended time of year — spring. Spring is when life sprouts anew after a long winter of hibernation and inactivity. Life mirrors nature at FEED Kitchens; and when the temperature starts to warm, the sun gets higher in the sky, and snow gives way to rain, then activity at FEED starts to stir as well. It’s a fitting time to introduce our new business hatchlings to the public, along with some tried and true favorites, in an effort to familiarize them with the community before the summer season starts. Taste the Future gives the entrepreneurs at FEED some much needed practice in service and marketing.

Shaunté McCullum – NPC Board Chair

Greetings Northsiders! Although I’m familiar with the Northside, I’d like to share with all of you a brief introduction. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois and moved to Madison in 2016 with my family. I am a mother of two, a certified life coach and entrepreneur. I have two businesses that operate on the Northside right off International Lane. Enrichment Unlimited offers coaching and consulting services for those looking for personal or entrepreneurial development. Endearment Unlimited is a home care agency that provides supportive home care services to the elderly and those with disabilities in Dane County and several other counties in the state. I also serve on the Dane Buy Local board. When I am not working or serving as a board member, I enjoy spending quality time with my children or going to visit with my family in Chicago.

I was introduced to the Northside in 2019 when Endearment Unlimited relocated from the east side. I quickly felt a strong sense of community and belonging. The Northside has much to offer, and I am excited about learning more about the neighborhoods, businesses and organizations that call the Northside home.

I would like to thank the Northside Planning Council’s Board of Directors for voting me as the new board chair of the organization. I want to give a special thanks to Lauri Lee for introducing me to this organization and its board. I am very proud of the work that NPC has done over the years and I look forward to working and growing alongside our directors, Chris Brockel and Justin Markofski, as we continue with the vision and mission of NPC. I am looking forward to the opportunity to connect with many of you throughout the year during the various events planned on the Northside.

Welcome to 2024! Crossing the threshold to a new year brings an opportunity to calibrate goals for the next 12 months. It has been nearly two years since the pandemic loosened its grip on our community, and 2024 will be the year to truly open up again and start moving some initiatives forward.

Greetings Northside Neighbors,

Here we are in 2024. I hope the first month has started well for you. Elections will be a popular subject of discussion and action in this year ahead. We will have the opportunity to not only elect our nation’s president, but important local government positions as well.

There are 10 Dane County Board supervisors not running for re-election. Two of these vacating county supervisor seats are right here on the Northside (Districts 12 and 21). Later this year will be a special election for the new Dane County Executive (thanks Joe Parisi for your years of leadership and service in this role).
