NESCO’s annual Summer Concert Series will be held Monday evenings beginning June 12 at the Warner Park Rainbow Shelter from 6‒7:30 pm. People of all ages are invited to gather to enjoy free, live music. This year’s fabulous line-up includes Universal Sound (June 12), Marcy and the Highlights (June 19), Ladies Must Swing (June 26), Mad City Jug Band (July 10), Wheelhouse (July 17) and Primitive Culture (July 24). In case of severe weather (either thunderstorms or excessive heat), the makeup date will be July 31. Grilled brats, hot dogs, popcorn, root beer floats and brownies are available for purchase at the concerts. Transportation is available for senior adults in our service area; call 243-5252 to arrange a ride. Goodwill donations are collected during intermission. Additional details can be found at www.nescoinc.org.

It was a busy spring for us. In March NESCO hosted our annual bilingual senior health fair at Warner Park Community Recreation Center for 200 older adults. In April NESCO held our Black Tie Bingo and silent auction fundraiser at Cherokee Country Club, where more than 140 people attended. Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors for these events.

April was also our annual appreciation luncheon for our amazing volunteers. This was a special year for two volunteers. Therese Duranso celebrated 25 years as a NESCO volunteer. If you ever call our office on a Friday afternoon, Therese is there to answer the phone. She also helps with many of NESCO’s fundraisers and events. Jan Somerfeld, who has served on NESCO’s board and committees for 17 years, received a Community Volunteer Award from the United Way for her outstanding volunteer contributions to NESCO and the older adult population. Thank you, Therese and Jan.
See you at NESCO’s summer concerts.
