Girl Scout Troop 1163

In September eight Brownies from Girl Scout Troop 1163 participated in a bridging ceremony in which they “bridged” from being a Brownie Scout to a Junior Scout. This has been a two-year journey in which the girls worked hard to earn badges and encountered new experiences, with a big dose of fun and friendship added in.

They learned about water conservation, cultures of the world, healthy living and nature. They participated in volunteer projects by helping in a food drive, making blankets for a hospital and conducting two book drives for libraries in Africa. The girls also had their share of fun at horseback riding camp, Mallards games, skiing and outings at waterparks.

Of course, no Girl Scout experience would be complete without selling Girl Scout cookies. The girls gained confidence, communication skills, and sales and money experience during their annual cookie sale.

The scouts of Troop 1163 extend a huge thank you to troop leader, Sheila Lenius, who has led the girls on these fun adventures, and to the Sherman Avenue Methodist Church, who so graciously sponsors the troop and allows the girls to meet at their facility twice a month. Thank you for making this journey possible.
