Sometimes really great things are right in front of us and we don’t notice them. Enrique’s Market might be just that sort of place for those who live on the Northside. The roughly 1,000-square-foot market carries products from Latin America, South America and Central America and has been located at 1417 Northport Dr. for 15 years.

For the past six years, the market and deli has been owned and operated by Enrique Hernandez and his son, Edgar. “I’ve lived on the Northside since 1995 and wanted to own a local business to provide Mexican and Latin American food and groceries to my neighborhood,” said Hernandez. “Our traditional tacos, Mexican sandwiches, burritos and tamales are based on my wife’s traditional Mexican recipes.”

In addition to the deli, there’s a meat counter with beef, pork, chicken and chorizo so customers can make their own favorite Latin American foods. The store also stocks assorted groceries.

Enrique’s Market is located at 1417 Northport Dr. and is tucked in next to Northport Laundry, across the parking lot from Jung’s Garden Center and near Culver’s. It is open 9 am‒9 pm, seven days a week and accepts EBT cards. Phone 240-2008.
