Daily meal for older adults

Food insecurity is a growing problem in our community that affects all ages. In Madison there are over 2,500 older adults who are at nutritional risk. This year our staff has seen an alarming increase in the number of adults aged 60 and over in need of a meal each day. In some cases, the older adult does not know how to cook for themselves or it may be unsafe for them to do so because of existing physical or mental limitations. In other instances, the individual lacks sufficient resources to purchase a sufficient amount of food each month.

NewBridge Madison hosts a weekday meal during the lunch hour at various locations in Madison and Monona with financial support from Dane County Human Services. If you or someone you know is 60 or older and could benefit from having a nice, nutritious meal and socializing with your peers, come visit one of our 12 meal site locations. Transportation is available to each meal site, if needed. The NewBridge Madison meal sites on the north and east side of Madison are located at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, the Goodman Community Center and Festival Foods. We ask that you contact NewBridge Madison one day in advance to reserve a meal at the Warner Park location.

AppleFest 2019 — a family fun event

Please note that AppleFest will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 9:30 am‒3:30 pm, at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center. This year we will be adding laser tag to our carnival games. We are also in need of gently used jewelry and used books for our AppleFest jewelry and book sales. All proceeds from the event help support NewBridge Madison programs and services for older adults in our community.
