It’s official. Another summer is in the books. Football season is upon us and leaves are turning colors at Warner Park. As the center gears up for fall and welcoming back all the Northside students, I wanted to share a few upcoming programs and activities we have at the WPCRC.

I want to thank all the teens that came out to Teen Night this summer. The WPCRC was awarded a $6,000 grant from the Northside Safe and Thriving Communities that allowed us to provide evening programming for over 100 Northside teens each Friday night. Teens participated in a variety of sports, arts, interactive workshops, live music and performance while hanging out with friends. The program was a lot of fun and we are excited to build on the new relationships formed this summer.

We also want to thank our members and participants for supporting the Back to School Supply Drive. WPCRC collected $2,000 in backpacks and school supply donations. Supplies were distributed to Northside students at the Mendota Elementary School Block Party and JP Hair Design Back to School Free Haircuts events.

Starting this fall, we will have free open gym for youth Monday‒Friday from 4‒5:30 pm. This is a big change in our scheduling and we are excited to have more free open gym time for youth. Students only need to bring in their current WPCRC ID cards.

Family Fun Night is back the second Friday of each month. The entire WPCRC will be open for a variety of activities. Bring your families and enjoy a night of bouncy houses, movies, bingo, art and pottery projects and more.

As we settle into fall, don’t forget to stop by the recreation center and say hello. Check out programs at the WPCRC and stay connected by liking our Facebook page @WarnerParkCRC.
