On Nov. 2, I received the Alix Olson Award, an award that recognizes contributions toward the promotion of a Tolerant and Just Community. On Nov. 15, I received the High Impact Award at the North Star Awards, honoring lasting and significant impacts in the community. I am honored to receive these awards and would like to thank everyone who nominated me.

WPCRC will be hosting the 20th Annual Holiday Fest Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 am‒3 pm. Over 80 crafters from the Midwest will be selling their handmade goods. You can expect to see a variety of jewelry, baskets, garden art, cards, pottery, woodwork, baby gifts, soaps, balms, lotions, knitwear, paintings, home décor and more. It’s the perfect place to find unique gifts for the holidays.

WPCRC will continue to host Teen Nights and Family Fun Nights throughout the winter. Teen Night is the first Friday of each month, and Family Fun Night is the second Friday of each month. The WPCRC will be open for a variety of activities to get you ready for the holiday season.

As you may have heard, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway introduced the addition of a new Teen Specialist position at the WPCRC in her 2020 Operating Budget. I can’t put into words the significance of this as we look to expand and sustain the work we have done with youth. We hope to start the recruitment process in January 2020 and have the position hired by mid-to-late March.

The WPCRC will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The holiday break schedule is: Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, 8 am‒12 pm; Dec. 26, 27, 28 and 30, 8 am‒6 pm; and Dec. 29, 11 am‒6 pm. Check out programs at the WPCRC and stay connected by liking our Facebook page @WarnerParkCRC.

Happy Holidays.
