Thanks so much to everyone in District 12 who supported me during the election. I am honored to serve you and look forward to creating a partnership of trust and transparency with my constituents.

In addition to my role as District 12 alder, I am also serving on the following city council committees: Urban Design Commission, Sustainable Madison Committee, Task Force on Government Structure, Public Market Development Committee, and Warner Park Community Recreation Center Advisory Subcommittee.

We are facing many challenges with the environment, and global warming is a real problem. To address it, we need to take immediate measures. At my first Urban Design Commission meeting, I came across the 929 E. Washington Ave. project, a glass building with mixed-use offices. At the first meeting, I asked the developers about their energy efficiency measures and how the glass building is beneficial for the environment. They did not have answers to my questions, including window to wall ratios. Thus, my concerns remain the same.

One of my biggest concerns for the city of Madison is in sustainable environmental design for new construction. We need to focus on bringing more green design to construction in the city of Madison in order to achieve the 2030 zero net carbon target. I will continue to work to promote environmental sustainability.

It is important for us to make sure the Oscar Mayer property brings prosperity and opportunities for our district. I am in touch with the developer, city staff and neighborhood associations to make sure we are all in the loop and know what is happening. Public input is key for any successful project. Moving forward, engaging our communities in decision-making is one of my priorities.

Thanks again to all for your support in the election. I look forward to serving you all.
