Pool plans moving forward

By Dorothy Borchardt
Circle of Friends

The Circle of Friends (CoF) has an agreement with Ramaker & Associates to evaluate the capital needed to build an indoor pool and the operating cost once the pool is built. The study will take eight weeks. The pool committee members are Bill Bauer, Matt Schaser, Jill Jokela, Art Luetke and Shane Ryan.

A rough draft of the pool will be available at a community meeting from 6:30‒8:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 5 at Warner Park Community Recreation Center. We want your input to make sure that the Warner Park Health Wellness Aquatic Center is the best we can afford to build.

The next step will be a financial feasibility study to see if the funds can be raised, and then we will need the support of the 12th and 18th District alders and the new mayor who will be elected in the spring. The CoF understands the City of Madison does not have any money for swimming pools, and we are willing to raise the funds.

We hope to see you at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. We’ll be selling cookies. Stop by, say hello and get more information on the pool.

The CoF is always looking for volunteers to come in and help bake cookies. We start at 6:30 am and bake until 4:30 pm. Email me if you can help or want more information (dborchardt1@charter.net).
