NPC launching text broadcasting service with partners

By Abha Thakkar
Northside Planning Council

The Northside Planning Council is now adding group texting services to its toolkit as a backbone organization in order to help reach residents who may not use email or have Internet service, or for those who prefer texting for communication.

Residents now have the opportunity to text a keyword to (833) 300-4888 in order to receive 1-2 text messages per month on topics of their interest. Your cell phone number will be added to an anonymous list that trusted Northside partners can then use to broadcast text messages with general news and announcements about upcoming events and opportunities. The service is free for residents, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

The following keywords and corresponding lists have already been established:

  • NORTHSIDE: get text messages about general Northside news.
  • RIDGECREST: get text messages about the Ridgecrest Apartments.
  • PARKCREST: get text messages about the Parkcrest Apartments.

We can create keywords for  neighborhoods, civic organizations, nonprofits, Northside food pantries and other services, voter information, City or County services, and our nature groups, to name a few.

Contact Abha at director@northsideplanningcouncil.org if your group would like to discuss setting up a keyword and group texting list.

And if you’re a resident, please feel free to text any of our keywords to (833) 300-4888 to start receiving text messages. We’ll print a more extensive list of keywords here and at northsideplanningcouncil.org as it grows.
