Rhonda Adams is the director of volunteer engagement and operations at The River Food Pantry. She’s responsible for overseeing office management and administrative duties, ensuring the smooth functioning of pantry shopping sessions, making sure there is enough food to stock the shelves for the 700-plus families who shop on a weekly basis and supervising, coordinating and motivating volunteers. But something that is not in her job description is that Rhonda serves as a beacon of hope for the many shoppers who visit The River. Rhonda spends her days working with the volunteers and clients, linking those who want to help with those in need. She takes the time to get to know shoppers, their names, their families and their stories. Rhonda believes it’s more than just providing groceries and meals, it’s about experiencing power moments, connecting with the community and contributing to a great good. She provides a warm and welcoming family atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect, encouraged to find the support they need and given the opportunity to share what they can with others. Rhonda also represents The River at the Northside Business Association and is an active member serving on the Breakfast with Santa event committee.
