Northside Planning Council board member Christine McFadzen has witnessed  the work of Healthy Food For All Dane County (HFFA) volunteers firsthand, as they repackage food that would otherwise end up in a landfill and redistribute it to local food pantries. While her nomination recognizes HFFA coordinator Chris Brockel, Chris received this North Star Award alongside some of the volunteers who make their accomplishments possible.

“Chris’ work with Healthy Food For All is life changing for our community, and if shared, possibly the world. His tireless devotion to reclaim food that would have ended up in a landfill is amazing. At the time of nomination, he has processed over 200,000 pounds of food with the help of 1,800+ volunteer hours. This food comes from businesses and farmers and is processed and delivered to feed community members that just need a bit of help.”
