dZi Little Tibet brings their momos and more from their popular food carts to a new restaurant on East Johnson Street. El Sabor de Puebla partners with a local farm to produce organic corn to make their Madison favorite tamales. Eleven MarketReady businesses bring their local products — and samples — to a Sneak Peek Event at the future site of the Madison Public Market.

While these local businesses sell a wide variety of products available at locations across Madison, they also have something in common: the entrepreneurs are members of the Northside Planning Council’s food business incubation programs: FEED Kitchens and MarketReady. Word of Mouth, a new email newsletter from the Northside Planning Council, promises to bring Madison foodies and small business supporters the latest updates from members of our food based programs. El Wiscorican gives back

Provided by FEED Kitchens

From Northside News content partner Madison365, “‘The Wiscorican’ Brings Puerto Rican Flavors to Downtown Madison”: “El Wiscorican invites Madisonians to experience the richness of Puerto Rican cuisine and flavors, offering both traditional dishes and familiar meals with unique flavors. ‘When you think of Puerto Rican food in general, there are a few things that are going to come to mind,’ says owner Luis Carmona. ‘First is going to be the plantains and anything derived from that so you got the Tostones, you got the Maduros, you got the Pastelón, El Wiscorican gives back and you got the Mofongo.’”

While El Wiscorican serves regulars their popular Puerto Rican dishes from their weekday lunch location on West Dayton Street, owner Luis Carmona started the 2019 season by serving free lunch to over 250 people at The Beacon homeless day resource center on May 1.

Thanks to Luis and to all of our businesses who give back to the community. Good food is for everyone, and we’re grateful to partner with people who work hard every day to expand local offerings and make them accessible to all.
