Quarterly Book Sale
The Friends of Lakeview Library Book Sale will be held Saturday, June 15, 9 am‒3 pm, with a members-only sale Friday, June 14, 6‒7:45 pm, and a Saturday bag sale 1‒3 pm
All proceeds fund library programs. Children may choose one free book.

Terrific Tuesdays
Tuesdays, June 4‒July 30, 4‒5 pm
Join us every Tuesday for all sorts of creative projects. There will be arts and crafts, cooking, games and more.

USS Bubbler Regatta
Tuesday, June 25, 4 pm
Anchors away for the second annual Bubbler Regatta. Create your own mini vessels from recycled materials, test their seaworthiness, and race against your friends down our rain gutter course — you may have to supply your own wind. Children age 7 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Humpty Dumpty Challenge
Tuesday, July 9, 4 pm 
Can your contraption withstand the fall from our wall and protect your Humpty Dumpty? Use your Bubbler-engineering skills to design a contraption from recycled materials to safely drop your Humpty Dumpty egg 10 feet without cracking, Children age 7 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Marble Runs
Tuesday, July 30, 4 pm
Design and create your own marble run with plywood, nails, rubber bands and more with guest Bubbler artist Sylvie Rosenthal. Practice your skills with child-sized, real tools to make your own maze. Safety glasses and earplugs are provided. Children age 7 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Library LEGO® Club
Tuesdays, June 18, July 16, Aug. 27, 4 pm
Flex your engineering and design muscles and join other LEGO fans and build your own unique creation. (Note: LEGOs are the featured Terrific Tuesday activity on these dates.) 

Saturday Family Matinee
Saturdays, June 22, July 27, Aug. 24, 2 pm
Join us at the library for a full-length family movie. We’ll provide the popcorn. Visit our online calendar or call the library two weeks before the movie date for titles.

Book Baby

Enjoy rhymes, bounces, books and songs while learning tips and techniques to help your baby develop early literacy and early math skills, naturally growing baby’s social skills in a group setting at the same time. Come for a short storytime, then stay for play and conversation.

Toddler Time

(for children ages 16-35 months) 
Enjoy rhymes, books and songs while learning tips and techniques to help your toddler develop early literacy and early math skills, naturally growing social skills in a group setting at the same time. One adult per child is recommended. Note: class size may be limited.

Preschool Storytime

(for children ages 3‒5, siblings welcome)
A happy blend of stories, fingerplays and songs that help preschool children develop print and phonologic awareness, vocabulary, letter knowledge and narrative skills. Groups are welcome, no registration is required.

Panels + Pizza: A graphic novel discussion club
Mondays, June 24, July 22, Aug. 26, 5‒6 pm
(for children ages 10‒13)
Join your peers for a monthly meet-up to read and discuss graphic novels. We’ll be talking about old favorites, reading new titles and doing occasional activities around them. Pizza will be served.

Minecraft® Club
Thursdays, June 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1, times TBA
Grab your friends for multiplayer Minecraft fun at the library and connect to the library’s private servers for a customized gameplay experience using MinecraftEDU. This summer we’ll work on challenges together and have time for free play. No account is necessary. There will be two sessions — ages 7‒10 and ages 11‒17. Sign up for 30-minute turns based on attendance. Minecraft programming is funded by a gift from the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Foundation.

Saturday Night Library
Saturdays, June 22‒Aug. 10, 6‒8 pm
(for teens in grades 7‒12)
Activities will include video game tournaments, hip-hop performances, spa night, talent show and even laser tag. We’ll screen print shirts, watch movies and make food. Dinner will be provided. This project is funded in part by a Northside Madison Safe and Thriving Community grant.

Merits of a Ketogenic (Fat-based) Diet

Unique Container Gardening
Tuesday, June 18, 6‒7 pm
Christianne, from the Avid Gardener, will teach us how to plant a lovely container using high quality plants and soil in unique containers. All supplies will be provided. This class is limited to 15. Registration begins June 4.

Drop-in Screen Printing
Wednesday, June 19, 5‒7 pm
Join local artist Lesley Numbers for a drop-in screen printing event. Learn how screen printing works and pull your own print to take home using pre-made stencils. Paper and ink will be provided, or bring your own t-shirt or textile to print on. Children age 6 and under will need an adult to help.

Make Music Madison
Friday, June 21, 11 am‒6:45 pm
The library will be a venue for Make Music Madison, part of Make Music Day, a global music celebration held each year on the summer solstice. It’s a free, citywide, day of music presented with the support of Madison Arts Commission and Isthmus, with sponsorship by Dane Arts, Digital 206-La Voz de Latina America desde Wisconsin and WORT FM Community Radio. 

Food Cleanse
Tuesday, July 16, 6‒7 pm
This program is an introduction to the food-based cleansing process. Join Katy Wallace, Traditional Naturopath of Human Nature, LLC, to learn ways to assist the body’s major elimination and toxin-removing organs (liver, kidneys and digestive tract) with food and herbs that allow for internal cleansing. Registration begins July 2.

Movie Night “On The Basis of Sex”

The life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg didn’t start in the Supreme Court. Follow the many steps Ginsburg had to take and the many uphill battles she had to win to prove that a woman could know the law and act upon it as fairly and impartially as any man. Rated PG-13.

Vinyl Sale
Saturday, July 20, 9 am‒4 pm
This is a music collectors’ dream, featuring music of all formats. We will be accepting donations before the sale, including records of all sizes (33 1/3, 45, 78 or others), as well as CDs, sheet music, music magazines or anything else related to music. Donation forms for tax purposes are available at the library. Drop off your donations or call the library to inquire about possible home pickup of larger donations.

Wednesdays, 5:30‒7:30 pm, and Saturdays, 9–11 am, by appointment
We offer free one-on-one sessions for help with basic computer and internet literacy, including online job searching and applications, using email and Facebook, and e-reader set-up and assistance. Call 246-4547 to make an appointment.
