Captain Brian Ackeret

I am extremely pleased to be given my current assignment as the captain of the Madison Police Department North District. I am no stranger to the North District as I began patrolling the Warner Park area on the night shift in the late 1980s. I have also spent time assigned to the North District as a patrol lieutenant and a detective lieutenant. I previously resided on the Northside for 15 years and feel a definite connection to Northside residents and businesses.

I have had many previous assignments throughout the years. My favorite assignment has been as a neighborhood officer in the Langdon Street neighborhood downtown. I am committed to community policing and problem-solving.

Madison is a changing city as we continue to grow in area and population and that growth poses public safety challenges. We have implemented violence reduction strategies citywide that include positive community engagement, violent crime suppression efforts based on data analysis and apprehension efforts of known violent offenders.

The North Police District, along with the Madison Mallards, will be hosting the National Night Out event Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5‒8 pm at Warner Park. We urge you to come out and connect with North District officers as well as MPD specialty units, including Crime Stoppers, Parking Enforcement, Canine, Mounted Patrol, SWAT, Gang Unit and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit.
