As you may have heard, Willy Street Co-op–North now accepts WIC, and all of our stores are participating in the Double Dollars program. These two programs are key pieces in our efforts to ensure that Willy North is accessible to all.
WIC
Wisconsin’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a program that helps pregnant and breast-feeding women, infants, and children under 5 years of age purchase food. After overcoming a few unexpected challenges, Willy North became an authorized WIC retailer in September. Almost all fresh produce and items identified by a WIC shelf tag (shown here) are eligible for purchase by those participating in this program.
Double Dollars
Every Tuesday from Oct. 25 until grant funds run out or March 14 (whichever comes first), any Willy Street Co-op shopper using their FoodShare/QUEST card to purchase groceries is eligible to receive up to $20 worth of Double Dollars coupons. For every $5 you spend using FoodShare/QUEST for any FoodShare/QUEST eligible items, the Co-op will give you one $5 Double Dollars coupon, up to $20. These coupons can help purchase any item in our produce department at any of our stores any day of the week.
Double Dollars Tuesdays are made possible by a grant from the USDA Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive Program, in partnership with the City of Madison, Community Action Coalition of South Central Wisconsin, Madison Public Health, Dane County Public Health and Wholesome Wave.
Not a Willy Street Co-op Owner? No problem.
Anyone can shop at all Willy Street Co-op stores and get the prices listed on the shelves. It’s easy and affordable to become an Owner, and you’ll get Owner-only sale prices and other benefits. Plus, those eligible for a financial assistance program may also be eligible for our Access Payment Plan and Access Discount. The Payment Plan makes it easier to become a Co-op Owner by making equity payments smaller over a longer period of time: $4 per year for 14 years for individuals and $7 per year for 14 years for households.
