The Lake View Hill Neighborhood Association (LVHNA) held a meeting Feb. 27 at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center (WPCRC). Thanks to all who attended to express interest in LVHNA and matters of interest to the neighborhood. Thanks also to Alder Rebecca Kemble, Dane County Supervisor Michele Ritt, Madison Police Liaison Officer Amanda Poli and Madison Mallards General Manager Tyler Isham for providing their perspectives.

Some of the matters discussed were as follows:

  • Update on water main routes from the new water tower to the Northport Drive area and the lateral to Esch Lane; work will begin this summer and will be the final stage of the water reservoir reconstruction
  • Few police issues in our neighborhood except an occasional burglary and entry into vehicles; Officer Poli can be contacted with questions of a nonemergency nature
  • The “Imagine Madison” website offers an overview of Madison planning and future meetings — next meeting April 25, 5:30‒8 pm, at WPCRC
  • Warner Beach breakwater reconstruction project is scheduled to begin in May
  • Future Warner Park improvements, possibly to include WPCRC expansion with multipurpose room, inclusion of middle school children, and a focus on keeping Warner Park wild
  • Madison Mallards duck blind being rebuilt and expanded and indoor renovations
  • Curb, gutter and sidewalk projects for our area scheduled for 2023; concern expressed about changes to the neighborhood and costs to homeowners

A number of participants requested further discussion on the curb/gutter/sidewalk issue. Alder Kemble offered to invite city staff to discuss these matters if people are interested in a separate meeting. If you have questions or concerns about the city’s commitment to installation of curb, gutters and sidewalks, send an email to lvhna1@gmail.com and the LVHNA will organize an informational meeting.

If you are interested in participating with LVHNA either in planning an event or working to make the organization stronger, send an email to lvhna1@gmail.com describing your interests. We will send regular updates to anyone who provided their email address or contact information at the meeting. We are also using the Nextdoor app to share information.

One of our close neighborhood associations in the Lerdahl Park area is holding a neighborhood garage sale May 20. The LVNHA thinks this is a great idea and would like to hold a garage sale in our area the same day. Having additional neighborhoods participate will doubtless draw more shoppers to the Northside. Start planning your sale now.

If you want to reach the LVNHA, email us at lvhna1@gmail.com.
