Dozens of new jobs will be created when Tennyson Senior Living Community opens, according to Rita Giovannoni, Tennyson project director.

Under development by Independent Living, Inc., the senior housing campus at 1936 Tennyson Lane is expected to open mid-2018. An interest list for prospective residents has been growing. A separate interest list for prospective employees has been created and people are encouraged to call 274-7900 and add their names.

“We are committed to this neighborhood and want to gauge the interest among Northsiders for staffing this community,” Giovannoni said. “While we’re not at the point of accepting applications, we’re certainly inviting people to contact us with their interest. At some point prior to the holidays, we plan to organize opportunities to meet and have conversations about what positions will be available and what it will be like to work at Tennyson.”

Many positions will begin before Tennyson Senior Living Community opens. Employees will be required to attend training that will include skills for working with memory care residents. Some positions will require specific skills and certifications prior to employment. Types of roles that need to be filled include:

  • Community director
  • Leasing manager
  • Receptionist
  • Dining services staff: chef, kitchen staff, café manager, wait staff/cashiers
  • Maintenance and housekeeping staff
  • Assisted living and memory care staff: manager, registered nurse, certified nursing assistants, activities coordinator
  • Health and wellness center staff: manager, physical therapist, physical therapy assistants, instructors for yoga/tai chi, massage therapist

“If you have a passion for working with older adults, this is a great opportunity. We want to develop a stellar team that sets a high standard before we even open the doors to Tennyson Senior Living Community,” Giovannoni said. “Please call if you have an interest in employment opportunities at the Community.”
