MSCR WInter Spring Program Guide

Get a jump on New Year’s resolutions with three weeks of unlimited fitness from Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR). Classes take place Monday‒Sunday, Nov. 28‒Dec. 21, 6:30 am–8 pm, at MSCR East, MSCR Hoyt and MSCR Odana. A schedule of classes and instructors is available at mscr.org. Teens 14 years of age and older may register with a participating adult. The fee is $40. Use course #12336 to register at mscr.org or call 204-3000 for more information.

The MSCR Winter-Spring 2017 Program Guide was distributed in November. The guide is filled with a variety of recreation activities for all ages, including arts and enrichment, fitness, skiing, sports, 50+ fitness, swimming and more. Also check out family workshops, day trips, wrestling, soccer, dance and more. Winter programs begin in early January. Fee waivers are available. Here are some winter class highlights:

Theatrical Dance: Perfect for theater students looking to learn the basics of dance, no previous dance experience is required. Class concludes with a recital Saturday, April 1, at LaFollette High School. Grades 6–10 at MSCR Hoyt, Thursdays, Jan. 26–March 30, 7:50–8:50 pm, $69, use course #13639 to register.

Sewing a T-shirt Quilt: Turn your memories into an heirloom quilt. Learn beginning steps and make a 48×60-inch quilt using your favorite or meaningful t-shirts. Participants must have basic sewing machine knowledge. Sewing machines and irons are provided. Class meets at a fabric store to discuss and buy fabric for the back trim one time during the session. Ages 18+ at MSCR East, Wednesdays, Feb. 1–March 22, 6:30‒8:30 pm, $75, use course #13152 to register.

Relief Printing‒Two Color Process: Learn basic techniques of relief printmaking using linoleum plates. Create an edition of 10 images and exchange prints to start your own print collection. Materials are provided. Participants are encouraged to take Introduction to Relief Printing before this class. Ages 18+ at MSCR Hoyt, Wednesdays, Feb. 1–March 8, 6–8:30 pm, $80, use course #13549
