With my new term, I joined new committees. Formerly, my standing committee was Public Works and Transportation. Our focus was highways, bridges and buildings in the county. I was able to support improvements at the zoo, a new medical examiner building, updates at the Alliant Energy Center, among many other programs. I maintained a steady focus on increasing renewable energy whenever possible with these projects.

In April, I joined the Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. I am so inspired by the strong, passionate residents of the Northside who work so hard to protect our environment. Currently, I am involved in county projects that enhance our green space and work to protect our water. Whether it is the food we grow or where we hike and swim, we must protect our land, lakes and streams.

I continue to serve on the Long-Term Support Committee, where our focus is making sure our most vulnerable friends and neighbors have the services they need in order to maintain their health and as much independence as they are able. Also, my service continues on the Human Services Board, where we work to promote affordable housing and programs for adults and children at risk.

In addition to those, I also continue to work with the City County Homeless Issues Committee. A diverse group of members meets at least monthly and works to address homelessness in our community. There is so much work to be done.

My new committee this term is the Specialized Transportation Committee. Our goal is to support and meet the transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. I am looking forward to joining this committee and doing this work.
